How to Throw a Fabulous 4th Party
July 4th is right around the corner. Are you hosting a party to celebrate? Many of us will either be hosting or attending some sort of celebration in honor of our freedom! I love throwing a party but I try to make it as easy as possible on myself. Here are a few of my favorite tips on how to throw a fabulous 4th party!
When hosting a party, it’s a good idea to break down everything you need to do into categories: decorations/ambiance, beverages, food, and activities. My 4th of July party is always outdoors and centered around the pool and grilling.
How to Throw a Fabulous 4th Party
*Decorations first!*Since we will be celebrating outside, my decorations will be simple but, of course, patriotic. I found some inexpensive yet awesome American-themed party supplies at The United States Flag Store. I’m loving the patriotic paper garland and the paper fans. Both are easy to hang and will add to the ambiance but not get in the way of party-goers. I also purchased a couple dozen USA stick flags. At just 17 cents a piece, these inexpensive little flags go a long way. This is where the kids get involved in the decorating. Each child is armed with flags and encouraged to decorate the backyard. Yes, there are a few flags in, shall we say, creative places but hey, the kids feel like they are helping so it’s all good.
Drinks are served! For some reason, when I’m throwing a 4th of July party I want to mix up a patriotic-themed drink. I found a fun red, white and blue layered drink on Pinterest that’s non-alcoholic so great for kids and adults. Here’s the easy recipe for the July 4th Layered drink:
Time to eat! I like to keep food simple and straightforward when it comes to a 4th of July gathering. Grilling hot dogs and hamburgers is our go-to for this holiday. I encourage our friends and family to each bring a dish or dessert to share. I’ll add two of my own favorites for a party to the list. These easy Hummus Veggie cups are a great snack to grab before the full buffet is ready to go. Simply add a generous spoonful of your favorite hummus to a plastic, see-through cup and then drop in some favorite fresh veggies like carrot sticks, pea pods, celery and red peppers.
I traditionally serve cold watermelon at our 4th party as well. Usually I just slice it up and serve but this year I’m doing something a little different. I am cutting the watermelon into stars, using cookie cutters, and adding some blueberries for a cute fresh fruit 4th of July snack. The kids will be helping with the watermelon shape cutting so it should go pretty quickly.
Be sure to use disposable plates, napkins, utensils, and cups to make clean-up easier for yourself. The US Flag Store even has all of these in multiple Americana designs so pick your favorite!
Pool time! Since we have a pool, everyone gathers in or around the pool at our 4th of July party. It’s usually pretty warm so everyone enjoys a little refreshing dip in the water. Whether you have a pool, spend time at the lake, or just hang out in the backyard, there are some great accessories that can make your party a great success! We love all our American-themed pool inflatables. From the American Pool Doodles for the kids to the PortOPong Beer Pong and the Texas Hold ‘Em Floating Poker Table for the adults, there is plenty to keep everyone busy and happy!
